Greek Prepositions-Personal Relations 5_1-6

We looked at our time and space relationship to God. Lets keep going in this subject, and introduce 2 more prepositions that further show where we are in our relations with God.

These 2 new prepositions are:

Greek Prepositions-Personal Relations 5_7-8

There are a couple of scriptures that explain our relationship with the Holy Spirit. The first one is found in John 14:17, which says: "The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him or know Him, you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you." This scripture is before Jesus' death on the cross and His sending the Holy Spirit found in Acts chapter 2.

So let's examine the last part of verse 17 in John 14, in the Greek language.

"... because He (the Holy Spirit of Truth) abides beside (Greek - παρ, para) you and will be in (Greek - εν, en) you.

Before Jesus died on the cross the Holy Spirit would be right next to or beside His disciples. But Jesus foretold of a day when the Holy Spirit would dwell in them.

Preposition-Para-Holy Spirit

*The Holy Spirit inside a person is backed up by Acts 2:4 - The expression used there "filled with the Holy Spirit". Wait just a minute, is that the end of our relationship with the Holy Spirit of Truth?

No, there is more to the story. Next let's look at Acts 19:6 that says "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Next we'll combine these 2 scriptures and show the Holy Spirit's new relationship to us.

*Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a very interesting subject. If you are interested, drop me an email at : [email protected]

Preposition-Holy Spirit In vs Upon

Before Adam & Eve sinned, they were both naked and did not shame one another, Gen 2:25. After sin and the fall, man lost his covering and as a result was ashamed and hid himself from God, Gen 3:9-10. Do you suppose that they lost the covering of the Holy Spirit?

We get the covering back, and the shame is now covered, if we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

This leads us to the next subject!
