(Preposition Supplement)

In Personal Relations 7, we looked at the faith that  (υπο + στασις  = upo + stasis - stand under) or stands under the things in God we hope for. Also we saw that our faith is based on the Rock, Jesus Christ. So next we're going to look closer into what my or your faith is based upon, (επι = epi or upon)

Personal Relations 8-How a Builder Looks at Jesus

We looked at our time and space relationship to God. Lets keep going in this subject, and introduce 2 more prepositions that further show where we are in our relations with God.

How A Builder Looks @ Building a House on Jesus

Matthew 7:24-25  "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock."

Personal Relations 8-Wise Man

From what we just read in Matthew 7:24 there are 3 facts we learned in how to build our house on the Rock of Jesus Christ:

1)  Hear Jesus' words

2)  Acts on Jesus' words

3)  Jesus' Words (λογοσ) = (logos) are living & active

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word (logos) of God is living and active...

"These are 2 Greek words for WORD in the Bible and the parables in Matthew 7 & Luke 6 use the Greek word λογοσ.

1) Rhema = The written or spoken word, like the Bible

2) Logos = The living & active word, as demonstrated by
Jesus' life on the earth. (He 4:12)

Luke 6:46-49 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who "DUG DEEP AND LAID A FOUNDATION ON THE ROCK"; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."

Personal Relations 8-Foolish man

Genesis 22:17   "... your seed (Abraham's kids, grandkids, and so on), I will greatly multiply like the stars of the heavens and as the sand of the seashore..."

Here God refers to people, Abraham's descendants as sand so - sand = people, or peoples teachings. We can conclude that sand = man's ideas and man's thoughts - not found in the Bible.

Lets look at some sand that are man's ideas up close under higher magnification:

No Bible verse states that we are saved by saying the sinners prayer or asking Jesus into our hearts!

Luke 6:48a   "he is like a man building a house who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock..."

Personal Relations 8-Digging

Jesus' words are bedrock - (Nothing - not even 1 grain of sand between me and Jesus!)

Laid His Foundation On The Rock

Hebrews 6:1-2  "Wherefore leaving the image of the beginning of Christ, let us go on unto maturity not laying again a foundation of Repentance away from dead works and of Faith on God, the teachings of Baptisms, and of Laying on of Hands, and of the Resurrection of the dead and of Eternal Judgment."

Another look at two types of houses

Jesus compared people to trees - they have a root system and bear different types of fruit. In Matthew 7:16 Jesus said "You will know them by their fruits."

Here is a look at two houses - one who laid a foundation on the Rock, and the other who laid it on the sand.

Personal Relations 8-Good House

House #1

Ephesians 4:25-5:2

Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have to share with one who has need. Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such as is good for edification according to the need, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also love you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Personal Relations 8-Bad House

House #2
